About Dog Advice Journal
Advice and reviews for dog households
Dog Advice Journal answers the practical questions that come up in a house with a dog, and reviews the products people ask about. We look at what a product has to do, what it costs to keep using, and what to check before you buy. Our advice pieces cover the smaller decisions too, like choosing a bed size or setting up a feeding spot that stays clean.
Claire Benning runs the reviews
Claire Benning is our reviews editor. Claire assigns and edits each review and advice piece, and reopens a page when something in it proves wrong. The names on our reviews are pen names. Each writer draws on a real home, real dogs and their own household routine. So when a review talks about a crate that rattles or a bowl that slides, the advice is shaped by ordinary household days.
What our photos can and can’t tell you
Every photo is licensed stock photography or a clearly labeled editorial illustration. Our writers’ homes don’t appear in them. A product shot doesn’t prove we tested that product, and a scenic photo doesn’t prove we went there. If a writer did test something, the review says so.
